Stoneleigh Park Country Festival, held over the August Bank Holiday Weekend.

The festival is a three day show that used to be called The Town and Country Festival which was a show that followed on from the Royal Show but was more for the public than the farming community.  The Town and Country outgrew itself and was abandoned in 2006, there was no festival in 2007.

In 2008 a new concern resurrected the event in the form it was this year, it is still held at Stoneleigh Park the sight of the now disbanded Royal Show and has gone back to grass roots and started off in a small way hoping to grow over the years. There are various forms of entertainment in the Grand Ring and much to see in the form of food halls, model engineering exhibitions and displays of cars and bikes.

We had our own display ring where we rode the bikes round twice a day, with a running commentary by Peter Booth, so the public could see and smell the bikes if yesteryear.

As the show has only just started up again we have not been able to attract as many bikes as in the past, a number of people found other shows to go to the year there was no show and have not returned, as yet. We did get 22 bikes on the Saturday, 19 bikes on the Sunday and 21 bikes on the Monday so we were able to put on a reasonable display for the public.

Our thanks go to Dave Kedall for organising the event, Bill Wise and Stan Bayliss for bringing along and collecting the ropes, bunting, stakes, boards and signs and Peter Booth for the running commentary.
