The Spring Run to the AGM.
On a sunny but cool morning 23 riders and four passengers signed on at the
Kenilworth Rugby Club, the bikes ranging from Brenda Hallards 1929 AJS to
Neil Levings 2006 Triumph. Although he was not riding it was nice to see
Graham Hallard at the start after a spell in hospital where he had a pacemaker
fitted, we wish him a speedy recovery and hope he will be back on a bike
soon. The 52 mile route took us through some very pretty Warwickshire countryside,
the leaves starting to break through and the blossom on the trees added to
the spectacle. A string of villages, many with picturesque thatched roofs
came and went, being a sunny Sunday morning we encountered more than our
fair share of horses and cyclists with the odd manic land rover driver but
everyone arrived safely at the National Motorcycle Museum in time to have
a cup of tea before the National AGM started.
The AGM went so swiftly that we were soon at the stage where the Major Awards
are presented and our CONGRATULATIONS go to Brenda Hallard who was awarded
the Dreadnaught Trophy for an outstanding performance on a Veteran or Vintage
machine, fittingly Brenda rode her 1929 AJS to the AGM following the Spring
Run Route which meant she had covered over 60 miles in total to collect her
award.
After the AGM was over the usual Management Meeting was held where Harry Wiles was voted in as the South Midlands Area Representative for two years to cover for Colin Seaton while he is President then Immediate Past President.
Our thanks got to Martyn Roberts for a superb route
and fine weather.
