The Autumn Run. Sunday October 11th 2009
Thirty four riders, 5 of whom were on Vintage machines, set off from Kenilworth Rugby Club in increasingly damp conditions – a pity as traditionally the Autumn Run had always been recognised as a dry run.
A 54 mile route took riders southwards through several little autumnal hamlets beyond Alderminster and Ettington before heading back past Walton Hall (the location for the recent Anglo Dutch Rally) and on to the finish at the Friendly Inn at Frankton near Rugby.

Unfortunately, and most unusually, a number of riders dropped out with mechanical problems, while several others diverted homewards to dry out.
Those who did complete the run enjoyed a good lunch and were made very welcome by the landlord Nigel. As I left, I said I hoped we hadn’t disturbed his normal Sunday lunch clientele too much, to which he replied ”you could all come here every week if you liked!”

One of our members, Rikki Richardson, celebrated his 80th Birthday just before the event so we had a cake made to present to him at the Autumn Run, as so many of the participants did not make it to the finish the cake was given to him on our club night a few days later. Rikki was over the moon with it.
Our thanks go to, Alan Bailey for organising the event, Nigel, the landlord of the Friendly Inn for his hospitality and Helen Parker for baking the cake.
