Boxing Day Run 2008.
On a bitterly cold but dry day we had the best turnout that we have had
for years, with 26 machines and two hardy female passengers in attendance.
After 24 years of organising our Boxing Day Run, Roy Parker, decided he had
done his bit and was making this his last. To mark the occasion, our Chairman,
Harry Wiles presented Roy with some garden vouchers before we set off.
In the past we have finished the event by meeting up with the Midland Section
at the end of their run, this year Roy decided to change the format and end
somewhere different. After a pleasant 45 mile ride through the Warwickshire
countryside we rode into the Green Man public house car park in Long Itchington
where we were greeted with a big mug of piping hot soup supplied free of
charge by our hosts. One possible reason for the large turnout could have
been the choice of the finishing venue which was within ten miles of the
homes of most of the riders, whereas in the past we have had to ride as far
as thirty miles home from the Midland Sections finishing venue.
Our thanks go to Roy Parker, our hosts at the Green Man, Mark and Sharon
and last but not least the hardy people that rode on the day.
